Where did August go?! I feel like one minute I was prepping for back to school and the next we are already weeks into school and full-on back to busy! While I already miss summer and our weekends at the Lake, I am looking forward to the new season, a return to routine, and fall fun with my family. I am not going to lie, the transition back to school has not been entirely smooth (hello fall colds!) but for the most part, everyone at the Duffield house is doing well and ready for fall! So I want to share some of the things that helped us ease into fall in the least bumpy way possible!
The weather has been all over the place! Cold mornings and hot afternoons make getting the kids dressed for school a bit challenging. Lately, I have been relying on pairing the girls' favorite dresses with a soft fall layer on top. My daughter’s favorite layer is our new 100% cotton sweaters in the butterfly and heart!
Wow, I need a lot of coffee lately! I like to set up the pot the night before so when I come down in the morning it is all ready to go without me doing a thing, a fresh cup of coffee with no (morning) effort somehow feels like a decadent treat in an otherwise busy morning. My favorite coffee lately is The Blue Mountain Bland from Magnum Coffee. If you have not tried their coffee I highly recommend it!
Back to school means back to EARLY school drop-offs! I drop my oldest by 8:15 then run home to organize my middle daughter and get her off to school next, and head straight to DL HQ to work, so my morning routine needs to be quick and easy. I rely on our polished and easy dresses to make getting dressed a breeze. My favorite go-to for a quick morning turnaround is the Jennifer Dress in Moss Green. I love this fresh fall color and I got a ton of compliments on this new style at drop off :)
So I saw these shoes recommended by one of DL’s favorite influencers @amylittleson and I couldn't help but immediately add to my cart. I love how they can add a touch of whimsy to the classic DL styles I wear daily.
You have probably bought your kiddos their new bags already but just in case…I am blown away by the quality and cuteness of State backpacks! Jackie requested this metallic butterfly bag this year and it was so cute I wanted to steal it for myself!
Quick mornings call for quick breakfasts
My family’s go-to are the protein Kodiak Muffins. I like to make a batch on Sunday and then breakfast for the week is set. My girls love them and I love that they are a healthy(ish) way to start the day! Pro-tip: I love experimenting with the mix, try adding an extra egg and/or 2 or three bananas to the mix, it tastes great and is even healthier.
Busy schedules mean lots of running around so I think I need a new bag that I can grab and go! I have my eye on the Grande Fanny from Claire V in the woven leather. I love how this can pair with literally any fall style!
